In Week 4 of the CFL, the Edmonton Eskimos take on the BC Lions in British Columbia. After 3 weeks of games, the Lions are tied joint 2nd of the West with the Stampeders, while the Eskimos are in last place with 2 points.

Since the initial setback in Week 1 against the Calgary Stampeders, the BC Lions have won 2 straight. They had a relatively easy win over the Toronto Argonauts, and a dominating 17-3 win last week against the Edmonton Eskimos.

Edmonton have been up and down. An absolutely dire Week 1 against the Roughriders, was followed by a big win against the Tiger Cats. However they were easily handled by the BC Lions last week – and that game was in Edmonton.

Let’s check out the betting odds for this game:

Edmonton Eskimos vs BC Lions Betting Odds:

Point Spread: Eskimos +8.5, BC Lions -8.5.
Over/Under: 49.5.

The sportsbooks have it right on the money in this one. Despite it being a fairly high line for the CFL however, I’m going to have to tip the BC Lions -8.5. The best place to bet this due to the odds(and the free cash) is at Bovada. Click that link for more details.

Now WHY exactly am I tipping the BC Lions to defeat the Edmonton Eskimos by at least 9 points? Let’s get into that……

Edmonton Eskimos vs BC Lions Betting Tips:

The BC Lions were the Grey Cup favourites going into this season, before a major hiccup against the Stampeders. Despite that they’ve still shown in their last two games they they are of championship quality – and I really saw that against the Eskimos.

That was a worrying game. They were losing at the half. The rain was pouring down. That’s the type of spot where teams get frustrated and stressed, start pulling off risks and it all messes up. But the Lions didn’t. They kept calm, and Lulay threw two nice touchdowns to wrap up the game.

Due to the weather, it really shut down the scoring overall in the game – especially on the Lions side. With that weather they had a big 17-3 lead and really weren’t wanting to do anything risky. They could’ve racked up a ton of extra points in that one.

Edmonton just looked very poor – and this game was IN Edmonton! That always says a lot to me – when you can’t rally for the home crowd.

Last week I tipped the Lions to cover the spread and I’m tipping the exact same this week. I said that they had a lot of injury issues and it wouldn’t matter – and it didn’t. With some healthy players back this week, I think things are going to get even worse for the Eskimos.

And that sucks – because I’m an Eskimos fan!

Unfortunately for us Eskimos fans – it’s going to be a long season. I can’t see any other result this week other than a good pounding by the BC Lions.

Bet the BC Lions to cover the -8.5 at Bovada.
