Week 3 of the CFL will end with the BC Lions visiting Edmonton to take on the Eskimos on Saturday, July 13th 2013.

Favourites to win the Grey Cup, the BC Lions lost a big game in week 1 44-32 against the Stampeders. They bounced back at home last week, defeating the Toronto Argonauts 24-16 at home. Edmonton meanwhile, after a miserable first week came out flying in Week 2 with their big win against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on the road.

This weeks game proves to be a very interesting one – especially with a few potential injury issues for the BC Lions. Bighill is out for sure – although Anton McKenzie is replacing him and that’s a solid replacement. Shawn Gore could be out too, and Nick Moore missed practise.

Let’s see the betting lines…

Lions vs Eskimos Betting Odds:

Point Spread: Lions -3.5 vs Eskimos +3.5.
Over/Under: 50 points.

Despite the injury issues and being on the road, I’m tipping the BC Lions to cover the spread at -3.5 odds. The best odds for this are available at Bovada.

Lions vs Eskimos Betting Tips:

You’ve heard the term “A game of two halves” – that’s the way to describe the Edmonton Eskimos first two weeks in the CFL 2013 season. An awful week 1 was followed up by a stellar week 2. Really though the differences were obvious – in week 1 they had major QB issues, while in week 2 they focused more on the running game. Against the Tiger Cats Hugh Charles was the star, with over 200 yards and two touchdowns.

That won’t happen against the BC Lions.

The Lions are excellent at stopping the running game. Edmonton will be forced to throw more and that’s just going to cost them to be honest. They won’t be able to get the offensive points that they got in Week 2.

On top of that – Edmonton managed to nail Burris(Tiger Cats QB) quite a few times on the weekend – something that again just won’t be possible against the BC Lions.

This is just overall a really bad matchup for the Edmonton Eskimos. Hugh Charles had free run then, but he won’t against the Lions. If anything they’ll be shutting last weeks top offensive player down even more.

The over is appealing here at 50 points – but I could see it being a 30-17 type of game. I really like the Lions to win this one by double figures and we’re getting a good price at -3.5 odds.

So take the BC Lions to beat the Edmonton Eskimos. You can bet this at Bovada – the best place to bet CFL online.
